Shaun Loynds
I am interested in fitting things together and pushing things apart. Finding harmony in a combination of things that have no reason to coexist. I enjoy how opposites work together and how they need each other to fully express and measure themselves.
As a multi-disciplinary artist, I only work in analogue mixed media as this gives me the scope I need to work in the organic and frenetic way that I do. I love the beauty of imperfection and perpetually resist the urge to tweak and refine the elements that make up my work. I am all about layers and chaos, mark making and mixing mediums. All of my works are a daily exorcisms of past experiences, encounters and situations.
Ning Chang
Ning Chang is a Taiwanese jewellery artist specialising in cloisonné enamel and contemporary narrative jewellery. Her work combines traditional metalworking and enamelling techniques with themes surrounding femininity, identity, attachment, and emotional experience.
Cloisonné is a highly skilled and labour-intensive process in which fine metal wires are shaped by hand to create cells that are filled with vitreous enamel and kiln-fired in multiple stages. The technique requires precision, temperature control, and an in-depth understanding of the behaviour of metal and glass.
Michael Lin
Michael Lin is a jewellery designer and artist-maker from Hong Kong and is currently based in the UK. Trained at Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery, his practice brings together traditional craftsmanship, contemporary digital processes, and material-led experimentation.
Working across precious metals, natural materials, and repurposed or recycled elements, he explores how different materials and processes can be combined to express a contemporary understanding of Japanese aesthetics.

Jointworks Exhibits: Michelle Turton
We’re pleased to launch Jointworks Exhibits, a new, regular showcase of artists and makers whose work we genuinely admire.
First up is Michelle Turton, whose bright, joyful pieces are now up on the walls at The Jointworks and available to buy via the Birmingham Design shop. Her work brings real warmth and colour to the building, and it’s been a pleasure to live with it day to day.
People over platforms
I work from home a lot. Partly because the commute is longer than it used to be. Partly because my days are often stacked with back-to-back Zoom calls. On paper, it makes sense. In reality, it can be exhausting. Not just ‘tired eyes’ exhausting, but that slightly hollow feeling that comes from being switched on all day without ever really connecting.
And that’s why I love going into The Jointworks.
