The Jointworks is really the culmination of a dream we’ve shared for several years. Most of the team involved so far have had businesses based here in Birmingham’s close-knit Jewellery Quarter, or have worked nomadically as freelancers in and around the city. But we’ve all longed for a place of our own.

The Jointworks is full of echoes of the creativity of the city’s industrial (and industrious) past.
It’s inspiring to think about the precision and dedication of those silversmiths and talented designers, the engravers and watchmakers, the electro-platers and metal-spinners, all of them joining forces to drive the city's economy and reputation.
Recent rethinking about workspace balance has highlighted the importance of central and efficient get-together spaces to share ideas with friends, colleagues and clients. To challenge and clarify projects and plans, and to build new unexpected connections in a way the digital world sometimes finds hard.
Now it’s our turn, making our mark together and breathing new life into this building.
Come and co-work alongside independent web and graphic designers, health-tech developers and entrepreneurs, illustrators and animators, film-makers, comms professionals and brand strategists.
The Jointworks is the new HQ for many growing independent businesses including Substrakt, Substrakt Health, Ammba, Impakt, Kingel, Method in Motion and 2G Design and Build. It’s also proudly home to the team behind Birmingham Design - and you can check out their new shop in our reception.
We know first-hand the pressures and hassles of rented office space and are determined to create something different and something better. Right now, working from home might be starting to lose its appeal.
But at The Jointworks you can have the best of all worlds: ample workspace for meetings, training or events, quiet booths for concentration and privacy, plus regular desks for you and your flexible team whenever they’re needed.
We have several large co-working areas, where you can just grab a desk and get going. If you need a quiet meeting space or a compact private studio for small teams, The Jointworks has these too. Simple online booking with in-person concierge support means you can access these anytime with a bit of notice. In our flexible ground-floor events area, we’re teaming up with partners to host sharing sessions, receptions and seminars with a focus on the creative industries - especially design and tech.
We’re surrounded by great independent bars and tasty eats, near to the canals and connected to useful cycle paths and train/bus routes. We also have a secure alleyway with bike parking and showers.
We’ve preserved the original spirit and atmosphere working with heritage specialists to retain as much character as we can. Starting with around 100 desks over three floors, the architects have gone big on natural light and our walls are adorned with the work of our local artists.

Membership is an affordable and scalable subscription which you can adjust depending on your needs as your business grows.
- JOIN IN - with our basic option you can work independently for a simple monthly fee based on a flexible cycle of 5-days or 10-days per month - you decide.
- POP IN - You can also pop in whenever you like for a £24 +vat day pass to use the co-working space. Book a desk
- SETTLE IN - pull up a chair and get your own guaranteed desk space. £250 / month for your own desk. Sign Up
- STUDIO - if your team regularly sports between two and six players, try a private space upstairs. (There are only a few of these so call us if this fits the bill.)
- EVENT HIRE - Get in touch or tick the box below to hire our flexible events space The Press Room - kitted out with the highest spec AV equipment, a well-equipped kitchen area (we can arrange catering) and outdoor space perfect for hosting social events. £50 +vat per hour for the use of the room, AV equipment and kitchen / outdoor space.

Design Shop.
In addition to a stunning co-working space, The Jointworks is home to the team behind Birmingham Design Festival and their brand new retail venture, the Birmingham Design Shop.
Filled with beautiful design books, magazines, stationery, homewares and gifts – the shop is located in the visitors entrance to the building.
The shop is open from 9am till 5pm, Mon to Fri (and on the occasional Saturday for special events).
As an extra benefit, Jointworks residents also enjoy a discount on all purchases.
